Birmingham will appeal to the Football Association over Michel's red card in a reserve game which could see him banned for three Premier League games, reports BBC Sport. The former Sporting Gijon midfielder was sent off for a challenge on Danny Mills late in Wednesday night's game against Chelsea at St Andrew's.
If the dismissal is upheld Michel would be suspended for City's games against Aston Villa, Burnley and Bolton.
Birmingham's appeal will be on the grounds of wrongful dismissal.
