Beye proud of Villa defence's performance

Aston Villa fullback Habib Beye says the defence took great confidence away from their 1-1 draw with Tottenham.

While he was pleased with his own performance, Beye felt Villa defended excellently as a team.

He told AVTV: "When you are a defender, you enjoy defending. For the second half we spent a lot of the 45 minutes defending our goal but at the end they scored and I think they deserved it.

"So you have to concentrate and be focused on what you have to do. I think we did a great job as a team and we got the point.

"We had been the best in the first half but I think they deserved to score in the second. But it was a good point for both teams. When you have players like Crouch and Defoe up front they have great quality - they are all internationals.

"I played a few times against Crouch last year and you can't jump higher than him because it is impossible, but you have to try and jump before him to have the right timing.

"It is hard but you have to do your best because he is big, tall and he is best when they have crosses coming in.

"He can score every time so you have to put your body in and try to do your best. The game has been good for me but at the end it is a good point for us."
