Jermaine Jones believes the USA's World Cup meeting with Germany will evoke special emotions for many people involved.
The Besiktas midfielder is one of four German-born players in Juergen Klinsmann's 23-man squad for Brazil 2014, making it five of the roster who have close ties with German football.
Jones, Timmy Chandler, John Brooks and Fabian Johnson were all born in the country while youngster Julian Green moved there at an early age which adds some extra importance to the USA's third Group G fixture against Die Mannschaft on June 26.
Prior to that, however, Jones will take on former Schalke teammate Kevin-Prince Boateng when the US meet Ghana in their tournament opener on June 16.
"It's funny for me that I play against a friend. It's a game, like the other two, like Portugal and Germany," Jones told USsoccer.com.
"I think the Germany game will be a more special game for a lot of players from this team, the coach, too.
"But yeah, we always think about the games now but I think we just wait until we're on the pitch and the games start and we try to win these games, depending on which teams we play."
