Berhalter presentation landed him Columbus Crew job

Columbus Crew owner Anthony Precourt has revealed that an impressive presentation from Gregg Berhalter clinched the head coaching role at the MLS club.

The former USA international was appointed by the Ohio outfit recently after two years in Sweden with Hammarby IF and Precourt suggests it was a very well-organised and striking demonstration which landed him the job at Crew Stadium.

"He brought more of an analytical and thoughtful approach about how we're going to make decisions around allocation toward different positions," Precourt told the Columbus Dispatch. "He had an all-encompassing, detailed, thorough presentation about the club that went beyond the first team.

"Some of the candidates specifically said, 'I only want to coach' or 'I just don't want to deal with the roster. I'm not experienced enough in MLS - you need to bring in a technical director or a GM.' I thought that when Gregg came in, he brought a more multidimensional vision to the club."
