Berahino has been sitting in my 'naughty chair' - West Brom's Pulis

West Bromwich Albion boss Tony Pulis admits Saido Berahino has spent time in his 'naughty chair' recently.

The 21-year old striker commented during the week that he would one day like to move on to 'bigger things' if he can continue to perform at the highest level for the Baggies.

Pulis indicated that the West Midlands club reprimanded Berahino for his words but the Welsh manager did admit to feeling for the England U21 ace who may be hearing the wrong advice from those closest to him.

"He's been in the naughty chair, but he's okay, it's not too far away from my desk," Pulis said of the Tottenham and Liverpool target. "But I feel a bit sorry for him in some respects, speaking to him.

"The question I think was: 'Would he like to go on and play in a top-four team', and everyone wants to play in a top-four team if they can.

"Sometimes, I really do worry about young players - the advice they're getting and the people who are around them.

"With the media attention that surrounds the Premier League and young players, especially those with great talent, it's a minefield for them at times.

"The priority for him is to stop listening to all the kerfuffle going on and get down to what he's paid for, which is playing football for this club."

Berahino will be looking to add to his season tally of 9 goals when 15th-placed Albion head to Burnley on Sunday.
