Former Inter Milan midfielder Benoit Cauet can understand the club's stand over Wesley Sneijder's contract.
Sneijder has been told he won't be selected again by Inter until he accepts a pay-cut. A move away is now expected in January.
Cauet told TMW: "I do not know but this is the club's policy. It's very difficult to afford a salary of €6.5 million per season. For an Italian club it is complicated, less for a European team like PSG or Manchester City.
"The Nerazzurri today have difficulty in paying a salary like that even if the player is not in doubt and has important technical value.
"Sneijder is part of the history of this team."
