Rafael Benitez was absolutely delighted with the reaction of his Chelsea players in tonight's 5-1 Capital One Cup win at Leeds United.
The Blues stormed into the semi-finals of the league cup competition with an improved showing following their Club World Cup final defeat to Corinthians in Japan on Sunday and the response, particularly the second half when they scored all five goals, impressed Benitez.
"The team was quite good in the first half and the reaction of the team in the second half was fantastic after coming back from Japan, jet lag, changing some players....the reaction was amazing," Benitez said.
"We were looking for character and we talked about it at half-time."
