Benfica veteran Angel di Maria admits regret joining Juventus last year.
The Argentina World Cup left Juve after 12 months to re-sign for Benfica this summer.
“It was a very difficult year for the club," Di Maria told DSports Radio.
“I never quite understood what happened during the season. I tried to understand and to do my duty when it was my chance to play, but I didn't play very much and at the end that affected me.
“I had many meetings with the Juve directors and it was not what I had discussed with the coach. Sometimes you realise words aren't worth very much."
On moving to Benfica, he added: “I did receive many calls from Saudi Arabia, they were crazy offers, but I chose with my heart and I chose Benfica."
