Belhadj seeks talks with Portsmouth boss Grant

Nadir Belhadj hopes for clear-the-air talks with Portsmouth boss Avram Grant this week.

The Algeria fullback has concerns over his place in Grant's plans for the second-half of the season.

Belhadj told The News: "For the moment, I've not made any decision.

"I've not discussed my future yet with the trainer and the leaders of my club. The transfer window is still a way off. I was asked a question about the fact that I have not played and I answered: if that continues like that, I will leave Portsmouth.

"In fact, for me, the things are very simple. I have the World Cup next year and to be part of that I need to play. I feel good at Portsmouth, with my life, team-mates and the manager. But I do not want to find myself each time on the bench, because that would be likely to make me lose my place in the national team.

"It's true I have not spoken with the manager. But I hope to have a discussion with him in order to know if he plans on counting on me this season. I will have a clear discussion and state to him that I if I do not play, it is imperative that I leave.

"I'm sure the coach will understand that. If he says to me he will use me, I will remain. My only concern is playing time."
