Franz Beckenbauer has given Manchester United a free run at Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski. The Pole is a target for United and Bayern Munich.

But Bayern supremo Beckenbauer says "We already have three forwards: We have Mario Goméz, we have Mario Mandžukic and Claudio Pizarro, who is actually the best of all, if he is fit that is.

"When I look at the current squad, each position is doubly occupied, some partially triple. A big transfer makes little sense to me."
