Bayern Munich midfielder Danijel Pranjic is a January target for Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas.

The Daily Star Sunday says the Croatia midfielder, once a target for Liverpool and also wanted by Newcastle, is keen to leave Germany and try his luck in the Premier League.

Chelsea boss Villas-Boas is in desperate need of a player who can close gaps and also create. He had hoped Michael Essien would fill that gap but the Ghanaian continues to suffer from a succession of injuries.

Pranjic, 30, can operate at full-back or midfield and is high on AVB's wanted list.
