Bayern Munich legend Lothar Matthaus has called for the sacking of coach Thomas Tuchel.

Bayern meet Arsenal this week in the first-leg of their Champions League quarterfinal.

But after defeat to Heidenheim yesterday, Matthaus barked: "There is still something to save at Bayern... I believe that the alchemy between Tuchel and the team has now broken. If you're winning 2-0 against Heidenheim, you cannot lose. And I say this also in view of the Champions League.

"I'm curious to see if and what will happen in the next few hours, I wouldn't be surprised if a ferryman arrived, because the embarrassing performance against Dortmund last week and that of yesterday say a lot.

"Tuchel is no longer able to impact the team and furthermore. He makes strange statements. I imagine that Bayern will make a decision in the next 48 hours, because we can't continue like this."
