Bayern Munich leave Sami Khedira to Arsenal

Arsenal have received a boost in their pursuit of Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira. The Gunners' move for the Germany international appeared under threat after reports emerged of Bayern Munich making a rival offer.

But when asked about the Khedira rumours, Bayern supremo Karl-Heinz Rummenigge insisted: "It's a myth."

Arsenal received a boost in negotiations for Khedira after the Germany international agreed to climbdown over his initial £150,000-a-week wage demands.

Last week, Arsenal attacker Lukas Podolski said: "Sami knows how much fun he would have with me, Mesut Özil and Per Mertesacker at Arsenal. We had a great time at the World Cup."
