German giants Bayern Munich have survived an early and late scare to edge Romanian outfit CFR Cluj 3-2 in the Champions League.

Ricardo Cadu put Cluj ahead in the 28th minute with a well-delivered header before letting the Germans off by knocking the ball into the back of his own net four minutes later to make it 1-1.

Another own goal put the home side ahead, this time through Cristian Panin, who saw the ball deflect off his body and past goalkeeper Eduard Stancioiu in the 37th minute.

Mario Gomez backed up his league hat-trick on the weekend to give his side a two-goal buffer 13 minutes from time which eventually saved Bayern's blushes as Cluj midfielder Emmanuel Culio scored late to give his side a faint glimmer of hope but it proved to be not enough.
