The former Real Madrid and Liverpool midfielder is enjoying his start in management.

Alonso has pushed Leverkusen up the Bundesliga table to only a point away from the European places, when they were 16th at the time of his hiring.

Per The Guardian, Alonso has real admirers within the Chelsea hierarchy, as they look to find a permanent boss.

The hiring of Frank Lampard has given Chelsea until the summer to settle on a boss.

Alonso is competing with Luis Enrique, Julian Nageslmann and others for the post.
