Sheffield United midfielder Jose Baxter concedes the players 'are letting the fans down', following their 1-0 loss to Bury.
The Blades are now five points off a League One play-off place after Craig Jones scored in the 27th minute to condemn them to defeat on Tuesday.
Former Everton youngster Baxter told BBC Radio Sheffield: "We can only say sorry to the fans, it was a bad performance.
"I think we are letting them down a bit too much at the moment.
"These are the games we have got to go and win to get up the table where we should be. It's very hurtful to get beat."
Ninth-placed United next meet 10th-placed Port Vale at Bramall Lane on Saturday in what is a massive fixture for the Nigel Adkins' side.
