Joey Barton has welcomed Newcastle United signing Sol Campbell.
Barton is convinced that signing Campbell will prove to be one of the shrewdest pieces of business in the transfer window this summer.
He told the Evening Chronicle: "He brings a vast amount of experience, and we've got a relatively inexperienced back-line, barring probably Colo and Steven Taylor.
"You've got Willo (Mike Williamson) and Perchy (James Perch), who will be asked to do a job, and a few others out of position.
"So the more the merrier. Sol brings a wealth of experience and know-how, and hopefully the younger centre-halves can learn off him and pick up little things and make themselves better players."
