Championship club Barnsley are showing considerable interest in Motherwell striker Michael Higdon.
The 29-year old Englishman, who scored 26 goals for the Steelmen last season on his way to the PFA Scotland Player of the Year award, is out of contract at Fir Park this summer and is currently weighing up his future.
Barnsley's retiring chief executive Don Rowing confirmed to the Daily Record that the Tykes are interested in the former Crewe Alexandra, Falkirk and St Mirren man.
"We have an interest in Michael Higdon and we have made an offer through his agent," Rowing said.
"Anyone who can score goals at whatever level is always on the radar.
"We've been one of the first clubs to step in and hopefully we'll be the ones that get him, but we've had no response from Motherwell at the moment."
