Manchester City's Elite Development Squad did not have the best of outings yesterday.

The young Citizens lost out 3-1 to Barnsley in the EFL Trophy group stages at Oakwell.

City's Under-21 side were beaten thanks to two first half headers from Barnsley duo Conor McCarthy and Jon Russell.

While Will Dickson did give City hope in the contest, they were unable to grab an equalizer.

Eventually, Barnsley put the game beyond doubt with a third goal through Emmaisa Nzondo in the 79th minute.
