Lee Barnard is impressing in preseason for Tottenham.

The striker scored twice in a friendly defeat to Rushden & Diamonds this week and Spurs coach Clive Allen told the club's website: "Lee's first goal was a bit special and for strikers, it's always important to be scoring as soon as you can when the season gets underway.

"He showed a great attitude and desire in the work he had to do to get himself fit again last season and he's worked particularly hard in pre-season.

"The best boost for him is to be back on the scoresheet and he did exactly that on Tuesday night."
