Arsenal are stepping up their push for Barcelona striker David Villa. The Mail on Sunday says Villa, unsettled at Barcelona, is under serious consideration but Arsene Wenger has yet to be convinced of the value of bidding for and offering a three-year deal to a 31-year-old player.

But Barcelona are understood to be ready to accept £12 million for Villa in January or £8m in the summer, which makes him a possibility.
