The centre-back's contract is up in 2022 and is showing no keenness on renewing his current deal.

Milan are trying to renew his contract but the Italian international is holding out for a higher salary than what his current club offers him.

Given this situation, Milan could consider the possibility of selling him this summer so as to gain some money from a fee, rather than losing him for nothing next summer.

Yet, given Barcelona's current financial situation, it is unclear whether they will be able to offer a significant fee this summer.
