Barcelona have told AC Milan they must up their offer if they want to sign midfielder Thiago Motta.

Despite claims from Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti that "the market is closed", Barca received a £2.5 million offer from the European champs yesterday for Motta.

However, while keen to offload the Brazilian, Barca won't sell for less than £4 million and expect Milan to return with an improved offer in the next 24 hours.
