Barcelona target Wijnaldum tells Klopp he wants to stay Liverpool

Georginio Wijnaldum has held positive talks with Jurgen Klopp about his future at Liverpool.

The 29-year-old has been the subject of interest from Barcelona due to his relationship with new manager Ronald Koeman.

Klopp wanted to clear the air with Wijnaldum and understand his feelings about his future, with just one-year remaining on his contract.

There was no mention over an extension during the discussions, but Sky Sportssays Wijnaldum hopes he has convinced Liverpool of his desire to remain at Anfield.

Given his age the Reds could still look to cash in on the former Newcastle man this summer.

But they will also be parting with an important player who has helped them win the Champions League and Premier League over the past two seasons.
