Barcelona have alternatives lined up should a deal for Roma defender Cristian Chivu fall over.

Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain met with agent Jorge Mendes yesterday. Mendes has Barca players Deco, Thiago Motta and Rafael Marquez on his books.

Begiristain discussed two more clients with Mendes - Porto defender Pepe and Deportivo La Coruna's Jorge Andrade. While Chivu remains first-choice, both Pepe and Andrade are on Barca's radar for the summer market.
