Barcelona striker Luis Suarez could challenge his Copa America ban due to the crisis now engulfing FIFA.
AS reports the Uruguayan Professional Footballers Union (Mutual Uruguaya de Futbolistas Profesionales) intend to ask their international equivalents, FIFPro, to immediately suspend the ban currently being served by Suárez, in order for him to be able to play in the Copa America, which starts in Chile in two weeks time.
The Barcelona striker was banned for nine international matches for biting Italian player Giorgio Chiellini in last year's World Cup, meaning he missed the rest of that tournament and is due to miss the Copa America.
The grounds for asking for the suspension of the ban is the scandal that broke over FIFA this week, with a number of high ranking executives from the organisation arrested in Zurich on charges including money laundering, racketeering and wire fraud.
