Barcelona striker Robert Lewandowski says the sacking of Julian Nagelsman by Bayern Munich surprised him.

Lewandowski left Bayern for Barca last summer.

“It was a surprise for me. He was doing very well in the Champions League. In the Bundesliga, the title was still within reach, even if perhaps the level of play was not the desired one," the Pole told Sport Bild.

"My goodbye? At that moment I felt that if I stayed in Municj any longer, I would never have enjoyed it again.

"I've always wanted to play in another league. I was in Germany for a long time (11 years) and I was curious to learn a new language and grow."
