Barcelona have stepped in to trump Malaga for Sporting Gijon fullback Jose Angel.
AS says Malaga believed they had a deal for the youngster, until Barca made contact with Sporting last week.
Malaga was offering Jose Angel a four-year deal worth €3.5 million-a-season - but Barca's contract far exceeds those terms.
Sporting president Alfredo García Amado will be in Barcelona today to discuss a fee for the youngster.
