Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu says they're prepared to discuss new terms with Lionel Messi - just not yet.
Bartomeu insists they now want Messi to focus on his football.
"Leo is eager to play and make a difference. As for his renewal, I reaffirm what I said: He is the best player in the world and we want pay him as such, but now he must play.
"We have to focus on the competition."
On meeting with Messi's father, Jorge, Bartomeu insisted there'd been no mention of contract negotiations.
"I just met with parents and guardians to explain the new situation with the board."
