Barcelona are set to approach Liverpool about Pepe Reina's situation. The Daily Star says the Spaniard's future at Anfield is unclear after Brendan Rodgers snapped up Sunderland stopper Simon Mignolet.

Sources in Spain suggest Reina is "a serious candidate to sign for Barcelona in the coming days" and that the La Liga champions will resume talks with Liverpool this week.

Current keeper Victor Valdes is staying at the Nou Camp but plans to leave when his contract expires at the end of the season.

It leaves the Catalan giants with a big gap to fill between the sticks and, at 30, Reina is seen as a good long-term option.
