Barcelona are launching a bid for Valencia winger Juan Mata.

TV3 says after their £34 million deal for David Villa, Barca will return to Valencia with an offer for winger Mata.

The former Real Madrid midfielder is a favourite of Barca coach Pep Guardiola, who sees him as a natural replacement for Thierry Henry.

Barca registered their interest in Mata during negotiations with Valencia over the signing of Villa.
