Barcelona have hopes of signing LA Galaxy fullback Julian Araujo despite the winter market being shut.

Mundo Deportivo says Barca are waiting on a ruling over whether they will be able to count on Araujo, the 21-year-old right-back from Los Angeles Galaxy.

Bureaucratic problems with the Los Angeles Galaxy and the MLS frustrated the operation before the market closed last night and Barça is now waiting for FIFA to validate it.

The two clubs agreed on a loan with a purchase option at the end of the season that would be around €5m.

Araujo trained at the Barça Academy in Arizona and has dual nationality: American and Mexican. The defender joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2018.
