Barcelona are close to finalising terms over a new contract with midfielder Xavi.

Ivan Corretja, the player's agent, met with Barca sports director Txiki Begiristain yesterday and sources told Sport that negotiations are going well.

Barca are eager to close an agreement as quickly as possible as they must secure Sergio Busquets, Rafael Marquez, Carles Puyol and Samuel Eto'o also to new deals.
