Barcelona coach Pep Guardiola turned down Mesut Ozil for HALF the price Real Madrid paid for the German ace. Sport says Barca president Sandro Rosell had struck a deal for €7.5 million with Werder Bremen before the World Cup, which even included the option of a straight loan in the event Guardiola wasn't prepared to gamble on the youngster long-term.
Instead, the Barca coach turned down the deal altogether.
Real president Florentino Perez eventually signed Ozil for €15 million, with early signs suggesting it money well spent.
