Barcelona confident of retaining Alves

Barcelona believe Dani Alves wants to stay at the Nou Camp, despite reports linking the Brazil right-back with a summer move to England. The 31 year old is out of contract at the end of the season and yet to agree a new deal with the Spanish leaders.

Alves has also been heavily linked with Manchester United and Liverpool.

"He is an important player who contributes a lot," said club president Josep Maria Bartomeu.

"I hope he renews. We have asked him to and we're discussing it.

"I know he'd like to stay and Barca want him to stay."
