Barcelona coach Xavi is happy with Sergi Roberto's new deal.

The defensive utility has penned terms to 2024 with a 12 month option.

Ahead of Sunday's clash with Valencia, Xavi was asked about the new agreement for Roberto.

"For me his renewal is great news," he said.

"He is an extraordinary player, I have praised him many times. In the dressing room we value him very highly as a person and a professional. He is a guarantee."
