Barcelona coach Luis Enrique has undergone successful appendix surgery.

Enrique was rushed to hospital yesterday for the operation and emerged in good spirits.

"I'm like a new man," Enrique tweeted. "Thanks to all who are part of Aptima Mutua Terrassa Centre Clinic."

When discharged from hospital, Enrique was asked about the imminent signing of Sevilla midfielder Ivan Rakitic.

"Everything is fine, thanks," was his reply.
