Barcelona are ready to step up their pursuit of Arsenal captain Robin van Persie.

El Mundo Deportivo says Van Persie is open to moving to the Nou Camp this summer, where good friend Cesc Fabregas is expected to take a more leading role next season.

Van Persie met with Cesc and Holland teammate Ibrahim Afellay at Barca's team hotel in London last month.

Barca are ready to spend big on a new striker signing and along with Van Persie, also have their sights set on Chelsea's £50 million man Fernando Torres.
