Barcelona sports chief Andoni Zubizarreta has confirmed interest in PSV Eindhoven midfielder Ibrahim Afellay.

The Dutchman has been put up for sale by PSV ahead of the January market.

"He's an excellent player, among other things he is also out of contract," said Zubi. "But it seems that there are already other high-level clubs interested in him."

Liverpool and Manchester United have also been linked with Afellay in recent weeks.
