Barcelona have announced Jordi Alba has agreed a deal to remain at the club until 2024.

The defender's contract was due to run until the end of next season, but after a talks intensified over the last week, Alba has committed himself to the Blaugrana until at least his 34th birthday.

A release clause of €500m has been added by Barcelona as they look to make it almost impossible for other clubs to make use of them, as Paris Saint-Germain did with Neymar.

With that, Barcelona have ensured the backbone of their team are on long term deals, and the next player to have his contract looked at is Ivan Rakitic, as it expires in 2021.
