Barcelona midfielder Xavi plans to move to New York City FC next year.
Cadena Ser reports Xavi, his father Joaquín and Iván Corretja, the player's agent recent met with a Manchester City representative.
City own NYCFC and held talks with Xavi last summer about joining David Villa and Frank Lampard in New York this season.
The latest meeting took place at L'Arrosseria Xàtiva in the Les Corts district of Barcelona and a tentative approval was given to the move to the US.
NYCFC sporting director, Claudio Reyna recently told TV3: "We are very interested in 'franchise' players, like Xavi,". The door is not closed. We will see. For sure we will need to bring in a third 'franchise' player in the summer."
