The controversial appointment of Francis Awaritefe as Melbourne Victory football director has lasted a matter of only months.
Awaritefe parted company with Australia's biggest club today, citing "personal reasons".
"I approached Richard Wilson (Managing Director) and told him that after much deliberation, I didn't want to pursue the role any further.
"While I have enjoyed working with the staff at Melbourne Victory, I have decided to return to Sydney for personal reasons," said Awaritefe.
Melbourne Victory's, Richard Wilson, said "we appreciate Francis' efforts and his honesty and wish him well in the future."
Wilson added Victory will persist with the position of a football director and the search for a replacement will begin "immediately".
