Auxerre 2-1 Ajax: Late Langil goal keeps Auxerre hopes alive

AJ Auxerre have managed to scramble a late goal to overcome Ajax Amsterdam 2-1 in Group G of the Champions League.

Frederic Sammartino opened up the account for the French outfit in the 9th minute but Ajax were able to pull that goal back with ten minutes remaining through Toby Alderweireld.

The contest looked poised for a draw until Steven Langil scored from close range with six minutes left to give Auxerre their first win of the group stage and slight hope of qualifying for the next phase despite sitting at the foot of the table, a point behind Amsterdam.
