MLS club Colorado Rapids have announced the acquisition of Austrian defender Thomas Piermayr.
The 24-year old will occupy an International Roster Spot in the Rapids squad after joining the Denver club on an undisclosed deal.
Piermayr most recently played with Lillestrom in Norway and brings with him some invaluable experience from Europe.
"Thomas has really impressed us in his time on trial, and he also has a great deal of experience in Europe," said Rapids technical director Paul Bravo.
"He gives us depth at outside back on either the left or right side, and can play in the midfield as well. We're pleased to welcome him to the club."
Piermayr, who can also operate as a defensive midfielder, started his career with Austrian side LASK Linz in 2008 before moving to Scotland in 2011 with Inverness Caledonian Thistle. He returned to his homeland to join SC Wiener Neustadt prior to his 2013 shift to Lillestrom.
