Football Federation Australia chief David Gallop suggests there could be a FA Cup-style competition implemented by next year.
Reports suggest that up to 600 teams could take part in a nation-wide cup competition, in the same vain as England's famed FA Cup, with the first cup final t be played on Australia Day in 2015.
"We all grew up getting up at night to watch the FA cup, dreaming of maybe playing in it, so we know how exciting a cup competition can be," Gallop said.
It is believed that A-League teams would enter the competition in September after kicking off the cup in April.
