Australia to meet Saudi Arabia at Fulham

Football Federation Australia (FFA) have confirmed that the Australian national team will take on Saudi Arabia in an international friendly next month.

The Socceroos will meet their fellow Asian Football Confederation (AFC) member at Fulham's Craven Cottage in September 8 as both sides prepare for the 2015 AFC Asian Cup which takes place in Australia in January.

The fixture comes four days after Ange Postecoglou's Socceroos meet Belgium in Liege and the Australian head coach is looking forward to seeing his charges in action after some positive performances at the recent FIFA World Cup.

"The match against Saudi Arabia presents a good challenge for the Socceroos leading into the Asian Cup," said Postecoglou.

"Saudi Arabia has also qualified for the Asian Cup so it will be good to gauge where we are at against another Asian team.

"We made some steps forward in terms of our performances at the 2014 World Cup but our focus is now on converting those performances into positive results as we prepare to host the Asian Cup on home soil in January 2015."
