Australia have an edge on England and other rivals in the World Cup bidding, it has been revealed. The Daily Mail says December's vote on the 2018 World Cup venue will tell whether the FA made the biggest blunder of their topsy-turvy campaign by ditching expert football strategist Peter Hargitay, now working for Australia, after he had devised the bid blueprint.

Hargitay's relationship with FIFA is so good that Chelsea employed him as part of the team that overturned the transfer ban relating to their signing of Gael Kakuta from Lens.
