Atletico Madrid are chasing Newcastle United winger Jonas Gutierrez.
The Sunday Mirror says Atletico, keen to build on their European success, are lining up a £7million swoop for the Argentine World Cup star.
The La Liga outfit will have a scouting team in South Africa running the rule over several targets including 27-year-old Gutierrez.
Atletico plan to be represented at Argentina's opening World Cup match against Nigeria in Johannesburg.
Atletico, who beat Fulham in last month's Europa League Final, want Gutierrez to provide the ammunition for fellow Argentine international Sergio Aguero.
