Atletico Madrid striker Morata: Enrique supported me when all of Spain was against me

Atletico Madrid striker Alvaro Morata admits he has a special relationship with Spain coach Luis Enrique.

Morata struck in Spain's draw with World Cup opponents Germany last night.

On working the Enrique, he said: "It is difficult to explain. He trusted me at the most difficult moment, not just my career because I have had other bad moments, my personal life too. I felt that I had a whole country against me, it was a very difficult situation and he got there and defended me against everyone. All I try is to give him back that trust and everything he has done for me.

"I have had many moments, but if I have to keep one it was the day before the second game, against Poland. I was in the hall waiting, because I had to speak at a press conference.

"It had been a brutal few days, and then the mister said: Morata and 10 more

"I got up and I didn't feel like looking at the phone, I only spoke with my wife, my parents and my children. I went to the press conference without wanting to speak. I was waiting and I heard him say, 'Morata and ten more'. There I knew that I not only had to think about the field, that I had to give everything and that when I was substituted in games I had to feel dead.

"Yes, surely (we're seeing the happiest Morata). I thought, what if I'm never going to play a World Cup? I've seen them all on TV since I can remember. You may think that if you do not have regularity in your club, you have ups and downs of performance, who knows if there will ever be a call to play a World Cup. So yes, surely my career is at the happiest point."
