Thiago Motta is delighted with his move to Atletico Madrid.
The former Barcelona midfielder was presented to local media and fans yesterday and declared: "I like the project here. It was important for me to join an important club with big ambitions. The plans the club passed onto me I liked a lot. I'm happy to be here and hope to have a great season.
"I needed a change. I wanted to play with continuity and it was very difficult for me last season (in Barcelona). Txiki (Begiristain) and the president (Joan Laporta) didn't treat me well, but I have no problem with Frank Rijkaard, who always spoke to me face-to-face. Anyway, I want to leave that all behind."
